MEMPHIS TN (IFS) -- It appears that private media giant SDC OmniMedia Group and Dailymotion have severed all ties with each other with SDC RadioWorks canceling their agreement with Dailymotion.
SDC OmniMedia Group's RadioWorks Division had begun to run into many violations of Dailymotion's alleged Copyright rules. SDC and Dailymotion partnered agreement started back in 2009.
It is also the testament to Dailymotion's powerful digital distribution platform that SDC Films placed their Music In Africa program. SDC felt it was beyond the scope of Dailymotion to demand SDC's right to promote these artists and many others that SDC RadioWorks handles.
SDC Films which handles the music video to many of the songs that would become smash hit recordings and the scrabble for control by the management companies that would later use the "copyright" angle to relief SDC of its broadcasting rights.
It's more than obvious that SDC RadioWorks was great at what they did because they rung the bell of many of the new production companies that handle these new artists.
SDC went on to add, that as new artists began to promote their music in the beginning, trying to get any airplay, SDC RadioWorks would be one of the first digital distribution systems to promote and distribute their products. As the artists gain more and more access, these artists jump into bigger and better agreements which leaves many indie digital promotions firms like SDC in limbo when these songs become giants with all of the recording firms that handle them and wanting to control all of the rights.
The argument with Dailymotion was that they requested to see and have SDC submit their agreements with these artists to post to Dailymotion. SDC refusal to comply with their demands, and Dailymotion's inability to determine which songs belong to SDC upon submission.
It was with the advent of the internet in 1993 that SDC RadioWorks created their first radio station, KDTN Radio One that transformed the music industry forever, as this was the first time that a recording company owned and programmed the label's radio station.
It was in these early days that SDC was one of the first internet radio stations, and just being older, SDC RadioWorks continues to program new artists and push them to their great potential. Music in Africa partnered with SDC Digital to bring their artists to the forefront of the music business when African artists were being "closed out of the radio loop". This association led to other artists from Italy, Vietnam, China, Russia and the Pacific Rim nations to submit their up and coming artists. This ricochet triggered Peru, Chile, and other South American artists to consider SDC RadioWorks for their campaigns.
It was SDC Radio that was the first to bring Russia's Pussy Riot to the forefront and play their music. SDC Radio is also credited with the Dixie Chicks massive internet hit, and Grammy for "Not Ready To Make Nice".
SDC RadioWorks receives over 200 submissions a week from up and coming new artists to be placed on their playlists, where many artists go on to Emmys, Grammys, and Oscars. It's not that the private giant needs anyone to help them as they program approximately 66,000 created playlists per day to over 3,000 radio stations worldwide.
Smith Data Communications was started in 1967 by its owner, Kenneth Howard Smith, who propelled this family-owned company into a major player with the ownership of Platinum Sound Productions, D-Town Records, and SDC Films which produced the "Save The Whales" concert with Crosby, Stills, and Nash in the 1970's. Smith also was an artist, songwriter, and producer at Motown Records. Smith's songwriter's catalog is presently distributed by Sony Music and EMI Music.
