Winner of Online American-Idol Style Contest Will Win Record Contract

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire -09/14/11)- Students of all ages at Computer Explorers are entering original, computer-generated compositions in a national American-Idol style music competition. The winner of the contest will win a record contract.
The Music Producer Software, one of Computer Explorers technology partners, is hosting a "Going for the Grammy" Music Contest, inviting students who use the software to create original songs and upload their compositions to The Music Producer website.
"Whenever we can make learning fun and motivate students to focus their creative energy, the student wins," said Deb Evans, President of Computer Explorers. "We strive to teach kids to solve problems using creativity and when students with no previous musical experience can create a real song, they experience enormous confidence boosts."
Computer Explorers, a national child technology education franchise that teaches over 33,000 children a week, is using The Music Producer software in many of its after school, recreation center, day care and school programs this fall. The software introduces students to an alternative method of expressing themselves through music.
"Our goal is to spark creativity in students and build confidence through self-expression," said Whitney Belker, CEO of The Music Producer. "Studies show that using music in the classroom, like Computer Explorers is doing, increases the student's self-esteem and enhances performance on standardized tests."
The top 5 songs from the contest will be distributed through The Music Producer's international network. In addition to a recording contract opportunity with The Music Producer, the contest winner will receive press recognition and a signed album from Brady Cudmore & Mishon. Senior level music industry executives from One World Artists, Smart Trax, Dynasty Records, Castle Point Records and a former BMI/BMG Producer will review the winner's work.
Computer Explorers mission is to improve academics through creative uses of technology in the classroom, said Evans. "Our relationship with The Music Producer is the latest step in our 25-year journey to help children learn. We can't wait to hear the amazing songs our students create this fall."
